Welcome to Yoga Legacy, a Registered Yoga School (RYS) which adheres to the guidelines and requirements as set forth by Yoga Alliance, including meeting all required contact hours which take place during the actual YTT training days.

Our school is a community of facilitators who have trained with Yoga Legacy and offer their support and experience as a previous trainee, current yoga teacher, practitioner and facilitator. We’re a diverse group offering different strengths and expertise and look forward to meeting you as you join our Yoga Community. This training is open to future teachers or those looking to deepen their own practice. You are welcome to take a few or as many modules as fits your needs.

Adhering to the requirements of Yoga Alliance below:

Techniques, Training and Practice:

Learn a variety of Yoga asanas (poses), including modifications and variations. Each weekend offering new poses along with topics of study with time to review and practice for better understanding. All training material is contained in that weekend’s Presentation Manual for easy access and review during and after training.

Study pranayama applying this knowledge throughout the training to master the practice and teach these effectively.

Learn the traditional yoga techniques of chanting, mantra, and meditation and how to incorporate them into your classes.

Master the Yoga Legacy safety map as you learn to create safe and well rounded classes with our warm up, work and cool down sequences to develop an effective class. Learning to offer modifications as you train.

Gain an understanding of kriyas and their application in a Yoga lifestyle.

Teaching Methodology:

Master class sequencing, developing good time management skills while learning to prioritize and set boundaries.

Study the application and use of demonstration, observation, assisting and correction skills with opportunities as you teach every weekend of training. Learn how to address the needs of your participants.

Learn to teach safe, effective classes for all members, using your own cuing language and techniques. Find your teaching voice.

Explore and develop your own style and teach the practice that calls to you. Each weekend you will learn and teach a different skill to help you begin to master these effectively.

Learn the Business of Yoga to include marketing, legal and pre-created workshops for your use.

Anatomy and Physiology:

Study anatomy and how this can differ from student to student.

Explore Chakra and Nadis.

Apply anatomy and physiology principles to yoga practice studying their benefits and contraindications, which are included for each pose, as well as learning healthy movement patterns.

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers

Learn about the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

Study a specific Yama or Niyama throughout each training weekend.

Learn about dharma and karma and it’s yogic application.

Study the 8 Limbs of Yoga

Understand ethics for yoga teachers and teacher/student relationships.

Learn about SEVA, which is another part of our YTT Program.

Practicum:

Practice teach a class to fellow trainees every training weekend, developing comfort and mastery of leading yoga classes prior to graduation.

Receive facilitator feedback, helping you develop your teaching style with this helpful mentoring aspect.

Write class observations during training to develop mastery of this skill.
